about
the board
The Riverina Regional Development Board (RRDB) is an
incorporated association supported primarily by the NSW Department of
State and Regional Development which provides an annual administration
grant to cover Board Members' fees, travel subsistence etc and the engagement
of an executive officer. The Board comprises 10 suitably qualified people
from across the Riverina, each having satisfied a set of criteria in expressions
of interest lodged with the Minister for Regional Development.
Board members are appointed by the Minister, usually for a 3 year term
and the Chairman is also Ministerially appointed. The Board meets at different
regional locations at approximately two monthly intervals.
The Board undertakes projects that meet the goals of
the Riverina Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) and are compatible
with the Board's stated objectives and extended goal elements. Additionally,
projects are expected to align with NSW Government regional economic development
objectives to enable attraction of funding through NSW Department of State
and Regional Development. Contributions to funding in cash or kind are
also sought from the Commonwealth Government, Local Government, the private
sector or other local economic development organisations and any other
entity that is considered a relevant funding source.
The 13 Boards in NSW operate under the Minister for
Regional Development and in conjunction with NSW Department of State and
Regional Development, as advisory bodies to the Government on regional
development issues and initiatives and as vehicles for implementing actions
to further regional development.
